After long lasting testing procedure by OTIS G.m.b.h. test tower in Wien, GEM gearbox HW134 has been successfully approved by OTIS Technical Commitee as reference gearbox for the substitution of old OTIS machines in Austria (renovation program for old lifts). In particular model HW134 BRAKE, equipped with Brake on Slow Shaft, has been considered the best performing and cost effective solution to comply with European Lift Directive EN81-1 for the modernization of old plants (from 3 to 6 passengers) with protection against cabin upward over-speed and against cabin uncontrolled movements with open doors (par. 5.9.4 of EN81-80 Standards).
